Uneven texture, enlarged pores and scarring all come down to the structure of the skin. Pores stretch when they are congested again and again. Scarring forms where collagen was damaged and then repaired unevenly.
None of this sits on the surface, so it does not respond to surface treatment alone. I see it regularly in my Edinburgh practice, often in clients whose breakouts settled years ago.
How I assess it
I look at the type and depth of any scarring, how active the oil glands are, and whether there are still breakouts that need settling first.
How I approach it
A course of skin needling or Dermaforce encourages the skin to rebuild collagen. That smooths texture and makes pores less visible. A PRX Peel refines the surface between sessions, and exosomes support repair and calm the skin afterwards.
Active breakouts are always treated first. Scarring is addressed once the skin is calm.
Within a Skin Journey
Scarring improves gradually over a course of treatments. Spacing and sequence matter, and a Skin Journey gives me the time to get both right.
