Loss of firmness tends to show first along the jawline and under the chin. The skin loosens, and the muscles beneath it lose tone. Both are part of the picture, and both need something different.
In my Edinburgh practice, I treat it as two concerns, not one. It responds well to patience.
How I assess it
I look at the skin and the muscle separately — how much laxity there is, how thin or resilient the skin is, and how the contour of the face has changed.
How I approach it
EMLift works on the muscles, toning and re-educating them for a more defined contour, with no needles. Radiofrequency tightens the skin over them. HIFU reaches the deepest layers and is usually done once a year. For thinner, more mature skin, Dermaforce rebuilds firmness from within.
Within a Skin Journey
Firmness is built gradually and then maintained. A Skin Journey lets me combine work on the muscle and the skin in the right order, and keep it going.
