Pigmentation and sun damage

Pigmentation is a common reason clients come to see me in Edinburgh. Not all pigmentation is the same, and treating it as if it were is where most frustration begins.

Sun damage sits in the upper layers of the skin. Hormonal pigmentation, including melasma, sits deeper, is easily provoked and needs a slower, more careful hand. Marks left behind by breakouts or inflammation are different again.

How I assess it

I look at where the pigment sits, how long it has been there, what makes it worse and how your skin has responded to treatment before. Heat, hormones and past treatment all change the plan.

How I approach it

Depending on what I find, I may use IPL for sun damage, the Meline Pigmentation Peel for deeper and hormonal pigmentation, a PRX Peel to refine tone, and skin needling to support the skin as it renews. Melasma is never treated with one tool alone.

What happens at home matters as much as what happens in my treatment room. Daily SPF and the right Forlle'd homecare are part of every plan. Pigmentation returns quickly to skin that is not protected.

Within a Skin Journey

Pigmentation is managed over months, not in one appointment. Within a Skin Journey I can time treatments around the seasons and adjust as the skin responds.
